CSUSM Spring Play

As the semester starts winding down the CSUSM Spring Play is always around the corner.  This year the theatre department put on Spring Awakening.  I thought it was a lovely production and I really enjoyed it.  It ran close to 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission in the middle.  Usually I start getting antsy in play that long but I didn’t find it bad at all.  I have class with a majority of the cast so it was really neat to be able to see what they have been working so hard on the whole semester.  I’ve taken a few acting courses in the past and am currently enrolled in the On Camera Acting class so I really enjoy watching people perform.  The play was originally written in the late 1800’s so the language is a bit old.    Regardless of this the actors did a great job bringing the story to life.  It is a controversial play so be warned if you ever get a chance to see it.  More conservative audience members might be offended by it’s sexual themes.  I’m glad I got to see it and I give my gratitude to all of the cast.  I also got to design the poster for it!

Larry Reitzer

Art & Lecture Series

Larry Reitzer is a television writer.  He is currently writing shows for Melissa and Joey.  I had the pleasure of watching his lecture as well as having him come into my acting class before the lecture began.  He gave a lot of great feedback to us actors including great insight into what to expect while auditioning.  He previously had jobs that dealt with casting televisions shows so it was great to be able to hear information from first hand experience.  The Art & Lecture Series talk was also great to listen to because he went into more detail about how he started wanting to write for TV.  After he gave a brief introduction he spent the rest of the time answering questions from the audience.  It was cool to hear questions that came from mass media majors because all of the questions that were asked during my class were from an actors standpoint.  He was a really nice guy and I greatly respect his work.  He stated numerous times to feel free to contact him if any one of us needed any advice.  He was very down to earth and I’m extremely glad I got to speak with him.

Making Connections: Part 2 Rough Draft

This is a very rough draft of my making connections poster.  I will be documenting the types of teas I like to drink and at what time of the day I drink them.  Each cup represents a different type of day (morning, afternoon, evening).  I am then going to make up a legend depicting where the teas originated and what shape of tea bag each type has.  This is still a very rough version and there will be many changes made.
